In the framework of "Pink October", the Institut Gustave Roussy, supported by the Dassault Group, launched its "Pink for Life" campaign on October 8. This is a major operation combining an information campaign on innovative treatments for women suffering from breast cancer and events organised to support breast cancer research.
This awareness-raising campaign was rolled out on 9 and 10 October at Artcurial. Some 600 people attended an exhibition of pink objects created by designers, stylists and major brands and original plates from the graphic novel "Cancer and the City"*. An auction of the 100 lots exhibited took place on the evening of 9 October.
The total amount of funds collected during this evening event came to 30,000 euros.
In addition, the "Pink for Life" operation was accompanied by a major donor campaign that has already collected more than 70,000 euros.

So that Pink October continues …
For each copy of "Cancer and the City"* sold via IGR, 50% of the price will be donated to the Institute for its actions in combating cancer [see the website: www.igr.fr or contact 01 42 11 63 16/62 10 or eleroy@igr.fr ]
- for copies solid in bookshops: 5% of the price of the book will be donated to IGR to support its cancer research and treatment programmes).
* " Cancer and the City" is a graphic novel by Marisa Acocella Marchetto, a 43-year-old American, illustrator for the New Yorker and Glamour, recounting her combat and victory against breast cancer. This book, published in France by L’Iconoclaste, has already been very successful – 100,000 copies sold in the USA and the UK. A film with Cate Blanchett playing the leading role will be released in 2008.
